, brought to our attention by David Koenig of MousePlanet:...an entirely rebuilt Schweitzer Falls. The new falls look identical to their 50-year-old forerunner, since the replacement was unplanned. Unfortunately, early last week, while WDI was working on the termite-infested wood and crumbling plaster, the structure collapsed onto itself.

Marxist Amusement Park?
Thiruvananthapuram: A water-guzzling amusement park in the northern Kannur district, promoted by Marxist leaders, due for inauguration in August, has raised questions over the Communist Party of India (Marxist)’s shifting priorities as well as its stance on environment concerns.
Nifty vintage airbrushed illustrations by Arthur Radebaugh make up this online exhibit: From World's Fair to World War.

UPDATE: English seaside amusement park Dreamland escapes demolition for at least another season, and there's a scheme afoot to keep it floating for much longer.
We have today launched the Save Dreamland Campaign’s Vision for Dreamland, based on a new Concept Plan by campaign member Jean-Marc Toussaint. Jean-Marc also happens to be a creative designer working in the theme park industry, and his Plan shows that Dreamland could be vastly improved if it is sold to one of the interested operators. The Concept Plan has also been endorsed by Southend’s Adventure Island theme park, the owner of which has been trying to acquire Dreamland for almost two years now. A press release has been issued (see below) and it is already appearing in newspapers and on the radio. We will be submitting the Plan to the Council shortly.
